Benefits for you and your family.
In 2019, our EMTs earned an average of almost $39,000 per year and our paramedics earned an average of more than $60,000. Your total annual compensation will vary based on experience, credentials and the number of hours work. Our compensation packages also include paid time off, such as vacation, sick, funeral and bereavement leaves, as well as “well pay” and holiday pay.
We offer a variety of full-time and part-time positions with varied shift schedules.
Ownership and Retirement Accounts
When you join Acadian, you become much more than an employee—you become an owner. Our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) allows our employee-owners to align our actions and attitudes with the principles of ownership, which strengthens the foundation of our company and promotes continued growth.
Employees who enroll in our 401(k) program automatically receive annual company contributions to their retirement savings in the form of Acadian stock shares. These employees are "employee-owners" who benefit directly when the company succeeds.
The value of our company shares has grown tremendously over the years, creating well-deserved and well-funded retirement accounts for our employee-owners. As an example, a paramedic contributing to a 401(k) and receiving the ESOP match can earn approximately $60,000 after five years, $180,000 after 10 years and $650,000 toward their retirement after 20 years of participation.
Acadian’s vast service areas include locations, cultures and environments to suit anyone’s taste. Whether you like fishing, hunting, music, the arts, food or sports, we have a location for you. Click here to see all of our locations.
We want medics with a passion for patient care and a dedication to advancing their skills. To support your skills and career advancement, we offer tuition reimbursement for EMTs wishing to become paramedics. We also work with your schedule to ensure you have the time available to attend class. Our innovative hybrid online training program allows you to study at your own pace and our instructors are always available to help you.
Acadian offers excellent health insurance at low premiums for our full-time employees. We offer employee, employee+spouse and family plans, among others.
All of our medical insurance plans include access to Teladoc, which provides access to licensed physicians who can diagnose and treat a wide range of non-emergency conditions over the phone or online. They can prescribe medication and send the prescription to your local pharmacy.
Acadian offers insurance plans that include both medical and dependent-care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), as well as Health Savings Account (HSA) options.
Dental and Vision
Employees can add dental and/or vision coverage for a minimal additional premium.
All full-time employees are provided with $50,000 in life insurance coverage at Acadian’s expense. Employees may purchase additional coverage (supplemental life insurance) for themselves, their spouses and/or their dependents.
Disability (Long-Term and Short-Term)
Acadian pays for long-term disability insurance for all full-time employees. Optional short-term disability insurance is also available.
Other Insurance Options
Acadian offers a variety of other insurance plans at competitive rates. Your Human Resources representative will review all of your options during the orientation process.

Acadian cares about our employees’ physical and mental health. In addition to the many programs we offer to assist when an employee becomes ill or injured, we offer specialized wellness and nutrition programs and advice to help prevent injury or illness. We have dedicated wellness coaches who routinely develop programs and contests to improve our team members’ overall fitness, weight control and general health.
In addition, Acadian offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with a Critical Support Intervention (CSI) Team that supports employees and their families as they deal with critical issues. The EAP program provides free, confidential, in-the-moment support for personal or professional issues.
