Senior Business Intelligence Architect: Healthcare (Remote or Lafayette, LA)

About our Development Team

Acadian Ambulance provides healthcare and safety services, including emergency medical transportation. Our BI team is a group of curious developers who enjoy learning new things through continuous education. We work in shared team offices, not cubicles, and frequently work with outside industry experts on challenging technical problems. We allow telecommuting and flexible work schedules. Most importantly, everything we do supports the critical life-saving efforts provided by this company every day.

Our Developer Stack

  • Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, Visual Studio, Microstrategy, QuerySurge, TeamCity, OctopusDeploy, Subversion, PluralSight, Safari Books Online

Position Tasks

  • Provide solutions for Ambulance and Air Med requests related to clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, and safety
  • Working closely with business analysts to build data warehouse objects for customer consumption  
  • Maintain and update skills in data warehousing, programming, and application development
  • Provide guidance and consulting required to maintain solutions, mentor peers, define best practices and support overall team goals and objectives
  • Light travel
  • 5 - 10 days on the road annually for conferences and customer meetings
  • Past conferences/training: PASS Summit (Seattle), MicroStrategy World (Dallas, Las Vegas, Phoenix), Kimball Group training (New York City, Dallas), SQL Saturday (Baton Rouge), MicroStrategy Symposium (Dallas, Austin, Houston), Lantec (SSIS, SQL Data Warehouse, Lafayette), LSU (SSAS, Baton Rouge)

On-call rotation every third week

  • Verify that morning scheduled reports have gone out so executives can make mission-critical decisions about company direction.

Office Environment

  • 2 - 3 people per office
  • Five-person core BI team supplemented by two expert consultants (SSIS ETL, Data Warehouse, MicroStrategy)
  • Three person DBA team in-house, separate from BI, also supplemented by expert consultants
  • Six person Development team in-house to for support and guidance

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Expert use of a modern BI development platform such as MicroStrategy, PowerBI, Qlik, or Tableau

  • Healthcare industry
  • Object-oriented application development
